Psychosis Stand (精神病スタンド, Seishinbyō Sutando) is a rare type of Stand that appears in Thief Syndrome.

History[]

Psychosis Stands are a unique type of Stand that have manifested through various means, some of which are still unknown. Those involved in the supernatural affairs of the world, namely the Speedwagon Foundation, as well as the Joestar Family, have worked tirelessly to discover how and why these Stands are invoked, but so far, to no avail.

Unlike most Stands, a Psychosis Stand has it's own personality, and act speak freely. Their personalities stem from their Users' inner selves. One such example is Joru Jotekata's desire to obtain the strength to change something in his life, which affects his Stand, Graceful Robber, into wanting the power to change Joru to obtain the strength he needs. Another example is Ann Takamaki's Stand, Lustful Actress, where it has a strong distaste for those who thrive in the power they hold and abuse it, much like how Ann resents authoritative figures, as they have controlled much of her early life.

Psychosis Stands also possess unique abilities, and usually have well-balanced parameters. Also, Psychosis Stands cannot be inherited or stolen. In other words, they are unique solely to their user.

On another note, Psychosis Stands' abilities tend to derive from the Tarot Card Arcanas they are based on. One example is Graceful Robber, who's Arcana is "The Fool," which represents a number of aspects, and often depicts infinite potential, allowing it's power to flourish, grow, and evolve beyond the limits of other Stands. Also, their namesake is derived from characters from history and novels, rather than Egyptian Deities, Arcana, or Western Music. Ryuji Sakamoto's Stand, Unjust Execute Privateer, is named after Captain William Kidd, a privateer-turned-private, who is famous for his unjust execution.
